ESA Homeschool Funding and Homeschool Grants

What is an ESA?

An ESA is an Education Savings Account. This is a way for families to fund their children’s alternative education in a homeschool or private school. Some states might call these an Education Freedom Account, or a grant or scholarship. This type of ESA enables families who homeschool to utilize the public tax dollars they contributed towards their child’s homeschool or private school education.

What do ESAs cover?

Education Savings Accounts, Education Freedom Accounts, or State Scholarships for Homeschoolers cover a variety of learning options for students. These programs are designed to fund qualifying educational services for students who are not attending public schools. With more states developing programs every year, ESA homeschooling funding may help pay for your child's music program with us.

ESA coverage of music curriculum and educational software programs as eligible expenses varies from state to state. Many states with ESA funding recognize that homeschooled students may not have access to music lessons. For states that cover music lesson costs, ESA funding can be a great way to support your child’s music education and enrichment. Hoffman Academy provides an ESA-approved online piano curriculum for students attending online schools, charter schools, and more.

How do I use my ESA funding?

This varies from state to state, but generally the process involves several steps.

  1. Apply in your state for state funding through their program. Your state’s application linked above may request additional information from you.
  2. Your state will determine your ESA eligibility.
  3. Start Your Order with Hoffman Academy. You’ll be able to select whether you’d like to submit a purchase order and receive an invoice, or pay directly during this step.
